Last week, our Vice President of National Accounts (East), Steve Hillman and Senior Telecom Recruiter, Chris Cooper had the opportunity to attend their very first Regional Fiber Connect, hosted by the Fiber Broadband Association. The event was held in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, this regional gathering brought together key players in the fiber broadband industry for a day of engaging discussions, valuable networking and insight into the future of connectivity, particularly in Pennsylvania.
One of the most impactful aspects of the event was the focused discussion around the state of broadband access in Pennsylvania. With such a large portion of the state made up of rural and underserved communities, the conversations emphasized how critical it is to expand access to high-speed fiber in these areas. It was encouraging to hear about the state’s outlook and ongoing efforts to bridge the digital divide.
A recurring theme throughout the sessions was the real-world challenges of deploying fiber — especially when it comes to permitting and coordination with utility companies. These discussions shed light on the complexity of broadband expansion and the collaborative efforts required to make meaningful progress.
The exhibit room was another highlight, filled with vendors from across the fiber ecosystem. It was a great space to explore new technologies, meet solution providers and have meaningful conversations. Whether it was learning about emerging trends or making introductions, the exhibit space added great value to the day.
Perhaps most importantly, the event was a great venue to meet new contacts and reconnect with some of our clients. There’s nothing quite like in-person connection to spark new ideas and strengthen existing relationships.
Overall, Regional Fiber Connect Philadelphia delivered a well-rounded and insightful experience. Our team is already looking forward to the next one and we’re excited to continue the conversation around expanding fiber broadband access where it’s needed most!
